Privacy & acceptable use

Who operates VirtualELibrary
VirtualELibrary provides temporary plain-text sharing through Copy Paste Text.
Important sharing risks
Do not upload important, confidential or sensitive information. Content, share links or passwords could be exposed through security incidents, unauthorized access, forwarding or user error. Keep your own copy. The service does not guarantee confidentiality or provide restoration of expired pastes. These warnings do not waive your statutory rights or our applicable data-protection duties. See the Terms of use.
Text sharing and retention
We store the text, title, optional password hash, share identifier, creation time and expiry time needed to provide a paste. Processing supports the sharing service you request. Pastes expire within 24 hours, or sooner if you choose. Access stops at expiry; a scheduled worker deletes expired database records in batches approximately every five minutes while the service is running. Large backlogs or outages can delay physical removal.
Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Password protection controls access; it is not end-to-end encryption. Text is stored on the server. Anyone with an unprotected link can read it. Custom link names may be reused after expiry, so an old URL can later point to a different paste.
Backups, if maintained by the hosting provider, are separate from live database cleanup. Their retention depends on the hosting backup schedule.
Security and technical data
We use IP addresses in temporary in-memory request limits to protect availability and prevent password guessing and abuse. Technical information may also appear in hosting and reverse-proxy access logs. This security processing supports our legitimate interest in operating a reliable service.
Application diagnostics record technical failures, exception details and a request reference in rotating files, with up to 14 archived files and a 14-day archive age limit. Active files rotate daily or at approximately 10 MB. Request bodies, passwords, cookies and full share URLs are not deliberately included. Hosting logs have their own retention settings.
Essential antiforgery cookies protect forms. We do not create user accounts for this tool. An HTTP-only access cookie remembers a successfully unlocked paste for up to one hour (or a shorter configured duration), ending sooner if the paste expires. You must enter the password again after that time. This is not an account login; it contains a protected access ticket rather than the paste text or password. Production cookies require HTTPS. These cookies support the service and are separate from advertising consent.
Usage totals
We retain aggregate daily creation totals to understand use of the service. These totals contain a date and a count, without paste text, passwords or IP addresses. They remain after individual pastes are deleted.
Hosting and service providers
Hosting and infrastructure providers process stored data and technical information needed to run the service.
Free tools, advertising and consent
The tools are free to use. Advertising, where enabled, helps cover hosting and operating costs. We do not require you to click ads.
Where enabled, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may store or read advertising cookies and similar identifiers, and process IP addresses, device information and advertising interactions for ad delivery, measurement and, with the relevant consent, personalization. On the homepage, Google’s advertising library loads with ad requests paused so it can display the consent message. Advertising requests resume only when our consent integration permits them. This initial script request discloses technical connection information to Google. Google ads do not load on paste creation results, password forms or shared-text pages.
Read Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information in advertising. Google and its providers may process data in other countries under the safeguards described in their policies.
Your choices and rights
Avoid including personal data or secrets in your pastes. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or withdraw consent for processing based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully. You may complain to your local data protection authority; in Lithuania, this is the State Data Protection Inspectorate.
When making a request, provide the relevant paste link and sufficient information to identify the data. We may need to verify your authority to request changes. Do not send passwords or additional sensitive data unnecessarily.
Acceptable use and abuse reports
Do not upload illegal content, threats, harassment, stolen credentials or personal data you are not entitled to share. Do not use the service to distribute malware or evade request limits. We may restrict access or remove content to address abuse or legal obligations.
The service is temporary storage. Keep your own copy of anything you need.
